Through this partnership with the Forum and our commitment to the pledge, Proteus Fund will further strengthen our collective work to ensure equity, justice, and an inclusive and representative democracy - one that fully includes the 61 million adults living with disabilities in the United States. By signing this pledge, Proteus Fund has committed to embarking on a disability inclusion learning journey and holding ourselves accountable to pursuing disability inclusion in our work and operations. The Council foundation members are committed to advancing disability-inclusive practices within their own operations and their grantmaking, as well as throughout the philanthropic sector.ĭuring the celebration of the 31st anniversary of the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act, Proteus Fund proudly joined other leading philanthropic institutions in signing the Forum’s Disability Inclusion Pledge. The Forum was created by the Presidents’ Council on Disability Inclusion in Philanthropy, which is composed of 17 foundations - including the Ford and Robert Wood Johnson foundations. The Forum is an emerging philanthropy-serving organization dedicated to expanding philanthropic commitment to disability rights and justice and centering the leadership of the disability community. We are excited to deepen our commitment to disability justice by welcoming the Disability & Philanthropy Forum as one of Proteus Fund’s newest fiscally sponsored initiatives.
